Last updated: 1 March 2026
Summary
Resurface does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays in your browser.
Data Storage
Resurface stores the following data locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in sync storage (chrome.storage.sync):
- Bookmarks — URLs and page titles you choose to save
- Settings — your display preferences
- Hidden sites — quick-link sites you have chosen to hide
This data is synced across your own devices via your browser account (e.g. your Google account in Chrome, or your Firefox account in Firefox). It is not accessible to the extension developer or any third party.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect analytics or usage data
- We do not transmit any data to external servers
- We do not use cookies
- We do not track browsing history beyond the pages you explicitly choose to save
- We do not sell or share any data
Third-Party Services
Resurface fetches favicon images from Google's favicon service (https://www.google.com/s2/favicons) to display icons for your quick links and saved bookmarks. This request includes the domain name of the site whose favicon is being fetched. No other data is sent to Google or any other third party.

| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
storage | To save and sync your bookmarks and settings |
activeTab | To read the URL and title of the current tab when you click Save |
